Mommy Makeover

Regain your youthfulness and restore your appearance after pregnancy.

UF Health cosmetic surgeons employ a wide variety of procedures to help restore your body after the physical rigors of pregnancy

Pregnancy and breast feeding may have lasting effects on the body, such as stretched stomach muscles, loose/sagging skin and sagging breasts.

A mommy makeover at UF Health Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics Center can help restore your youthful appearance after you’ve given birth and finished breast feeding. And while a mommy makeover can help restore your body’s shape, it’s not a replacement for good dieting and exercise.

What does a mommy makeover involve?

A mommy makeover isn’t a procedure itself. In fact, it’s one of many plastic surgery procedures we offer. Each person is unique, so that’s why you must consult with one of our UF Health plastic surgeons before going forward with any procedure.

Below are some of the procedures commonly involved in a mommy makeover. Each addresses different areas of the body affected by pregnancy and giving birth. Again, you may only require one or all of these procedures to restore your body’s appearance after pregnancy.

  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)Pregnancy can place great stress on the stomach muscles, causing them to stretch. Once you give birth and begin recovering, you can be left with loose sagging skin in your midsection. An abdominoplasty helps address this situation by getting rid of loose skin and reshaping the stomach muscles.
  • Breast Lift/Breast AugmentationPregnancy and breast feeding can also cause great stress on the breasts and cause them to sag. Breast surgery procedures can help rejuvenate the breast region and give you the youthful look you had prior to having children.
  • LiposuctionUF Health cosmetic surgeons also employ liposuction to remove excess skin and fat that can build up in the thigh and stomach region during and immediately following pregnancy.

Is a mommy makeover right for me?

A mommy makeover may be right for you if you have realistic expectations, are in good health and do not smoke. It’s important to understand that mommy makeovers are only part of the equation. Good diet and exercise is critical to maintaining the benefits of undergoing the procedure(s).

We strongly urge you only do this for yourself and not to satisfy anyone else’s desires. To see what you need to do to prepare for any mommy makeover, check out the procedure links above.
